About Us:

Active Minds Early Learning Academy is a full-day child care center and prekindergarten program serving children aged 3-5 and school-aged. We are dedicated to consistently providing high client satisfaction by providing high-quality developmentally appropriate educational experiences. We maintain a fun, friendly, and safe learning environment that respects diversity, creativity, and curiosity while integrating arts and science as we educate the whole child.

Veronica Armstrong, the owner, director, and lead teacher, has worked in early childhood education for over 12 years, including time as a PreK and 1st grade teacher for Waterloo Community Schools and lead 2 year old teacher at a local daycare. She has earned the respect of her colleagues and the families which she has served through hard work, dedication, and a desire to go above and beyond the necessary to do what is best for children. Veronica holds a Master's Degree in Education and is certified to teach special needs and general education for children ages birth-grade 6. Her reputation speaks for itself as she continuously strives to exceed expectations of the community she serves. She has joined together a talented staff who share her desire to create a child care center and prekindergarten program of the highest quality.

Philosophy:

We believe that all children can learn. Through the caring adults around them who provide real hands-on experiences, children learn valuable life skills. We believe that it is necessary to embrace the multiple intelligences of every child by providing a variety of classroom experiences. We educate the whole child to set a strong foundation on which to build a lifetime of learning. This includes social, emotional, intellectual, and physical learning. The value of play is at the forefront of everything we do. Children must be allowed to explore and construct their own knowledge of the world around them through meaningful experiences. It is our job to give them the safe environment and support they need to make sense of the world.
